About Us
Black Gold Real Estate Investments is a company that specializes in generating valuable opportunities for our partners in the procurement and operation of single family and multifamily properties in desirable areas to produce value for our investment partners. Black Gold investments have the know-how and aptitude necessary for consistent, successful property appreciation. Our investment partners can take advantage of the financial gains from their investments by being as passive or as active as they like.
Our Story
In 2014, I rented my personal residence to a tenant and was amazed at how much money I acquired in 3 years. I used some of that money to procure 7 additional single family homes and I eventually sold 2 of them. I purchased a single family home from the Detroit Land Bank in 2017 for only $1,000.00. I invested approximately $20,000.00 into rehabbing the house.

After making my money back from a tenant, I sold it for a substantial profit in 2022. Many years ago my father actually named my investment company, Black Gold Real Estate. While speaking as a Minister, he told an audience, "I know my son Darrick gets into trouble every now and then. But once he makes his mind up, whatever he touches, he turns to gold." In 1993, I lost my job as a security police sergeant at a mall.

However, after obtaining a Master's degree in Criminal Justice I was able to transition a community college campus safety department to a MCOLES fully sworn police agency while serving as Chief.

In August of 2022, I read Mike Ealy's book, From Broke to Millions and it changed the trajectory of my real estate goals. I am currently, in a Mastermind course on real estate investing under the tutelage of Mike Ealy of Nassau Investments. This looks like it will be an amazing adventure with the correct business partners and a solid support network. As Mike Ealy says, remember... You're ONE BIG DEAL away!

Michael Ealy has developed Nassau Investments into one of the key development firms in the Cincinnati area. Over an extensive 20-year period, Mr. Ealy has applied his knowledge of property and asset management to negotiate hundreds of successful real estate transactions. Mike’s strength is identifying the right projects, developing a clear vision, and then putting together the right team to specifically execute each project. Mr. Ealy have done over $250M worth of real estate deals and he currently own 40 single family home rentals, 1500 apartment units and 4 hotels. Mr. Ealy is currently building a $110M hotel/condo development project in Sarasota, Florida.
Wen de Guzman is the real estate investing "Professor." Wen de Guzman has acquired over $13M worth of investment properties, the largest acquisition of which is a 100+ apartment complex. He teaches Mike Ealy's Big Deal Maker Mastermind members (who are Mr. Ealy's high-end coaching students) how to do preliminary apartment & hotel deal analysis, in addition to raising private capital.
Tim Vest has more than 15 years in real estate and development. From partnering with developers, to developing raw land, to purchasing and investing in single family rentals, fix and flips, multifamily and hotels. He is currently an owner and partner on multiple apartment communities. Mr. Vest is Mike Ealy's most successful student and Mastermind member – he bought 1,000 apartment units just 2 years after joining his Mastermind. Outside of his passion for Real Estate, Tim has also enjoyed a 20+ year career in Technology, founded multiple startups and enjoys music, sports, travel and an active lifestyle. Of course, none of this would be possible without the amazing support from his wife of 20 years, Sara, and their soccer star daughter, Payton.
Keishia is an army veteran with six years of service in the Army National Guard. During her enlistment, she was a Human Resource Specialist and also deployed to Kuwait as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. She has also pursued education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry as well as a second Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master of Arts in Homeland Security. Following her enlistment, she began investing in real estate in 2011 and has been expanding and managing her portfolio of properties for the past 10 years. In April 2021, she decided to take the next step on her entrepreneurial journey by founding Kennedy Remedy Investments. Ms. Kennedy went from 3 doors to over 500 doors in just 18 months. A big part of her success is knowing how to raise private capital. Ms. Kennedy is based in Kuwait. However, she was able to buy apartments in the United States. She focused on raising private capital and finding the right partners who have the deals.
